Location: Los Angeles, California (on-site)
Our mission is to promote American values through the creative use of digital media, technology and edu-tainment. We’re proud to be voted among the “Best Place to Work in Los Angeles” by the LA Business Journal 3 years in a row.
The Production Team is a dynamic, all-hands-on-deck unit with a unique and fast-paced workflow. The Production Operations Manager is a new role that will work under the Heads of Production to project manage Kids content in multiple mediums. The right candidate will have a mind for creative problem-solving and logistics, as well as be adaptive, detail-oriented, hyperorganized, and proactive. Strong communication skills are a must, as well as the ability to juggle multiple fast-moving projects concurrently.
We are seeking a high-energy candidate who is truly excited by bringing order to chaos and keeping the trains running on time.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Heads of Production, work with all parts of the PragerU Kids world to monitor a wide scope of ongoing projects through pre-production, production, post-production, and delivery.
- Conduct ongoing review of Kids projects—including show episodes, educational resources, books, promotional content, and more—to assess current status and health of each project. Manage the handoff between Kids team members for project delivery to ensure deadlines are met.
- Help spearhead organization and staff/resource management for the Kids Production unit within the Production team. Oversee editor workloads, task assignments, and timelines to ensure deadlines are met and ever-shifting priorities are clearly communicated.
- Working closely with the VP of Kids, be responsible for the logistics and timelines of PragerU Kids books. Work with multiple teams—Education, Creative, Illustration, Marketing, and more—to organize all involved elements.
- Serve as point-person for external vendors, including video producers, graphic designers, writers, and more. Build relationships, ensure proper onboarding and contracts, set schedules, loop in appropriate staff, hold all parties accountable, and anticipate problems or delays.
- Maintain quality control with an eye for brand and show guidelines. QC print and video materials to ensure adherence to approved standards and products are free of errors.
- Assist with administrative duties. Keep up to date company-wide databases for project tracking and information distribution, and help build and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure elimination and/or avoidance of silos. Liaise between Production, Education, Marketing, and Creative elements to keep open communication and visibility.
- Help on set as needed in a “no task is too small” environment.
- Be flexible and willing to jump into other tasks and projects as needed.
Successful Candidates Will Possess:
- 5-7+ years of production management experience in a film/video production setting, including significant project tracking abilities.
- Ability to work with a startup-type-hustle and to not overcomplicate.
- Strong communication skills are imperative, especially in regards to communicating ideas and processes clearly and succinctly to non-“industry” personnel.
- Adhere to established processes and structures, including working closely with Heads of Production, VP of Kids, and show producers to maintain consistency.
- Top-notch organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize appropriately, and be flexible in an extremely fastpaced environment (seriously!).
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills with internal Production staff (producers, writers, editors, etc.) and other departments (education, marketing, web, etc.). Show solid discernment in both attention to the smallest details as well as big-picture macro insight.
- A true Team Player, proactive, helpful, honest, and calm under pressure. This is a no-ego environment where no task is too small.
- Flexible and able to “roll with the punches” within an ever-changing game plan, and able to problem-solve on the fly.
